Ok, well maybe not a thousand but quite a few. Tuesday night, I was told, is pretty much considered the last night so the farewell parties are in full effect. I attended the Rockies v. Astros game at Coors Field from 7p-9p then made the rounds at the receptions for both the Legal and News Divisions. Capped off the night at the IT Div “Gold-Diggers Ball” (yes, Kanye West’s song was played.) As the strains of Donna Summer’s “Last Dance” were waning, people continued the party elsewhere. I wound up with the SLA Europe contingency, made up mostly of Brits and one Australian (who I don’t think was a part of SLA Europe for obvious geographical reasons, but that’s neither here nor there.) Jacko concocted a martini called strawberry cheesecake and bought us all one. I introduced one of the gentlemen to his first Cosmo. He wanted a Pimms, but not surprisingly that was not an option at the bar of the Denver Hyatt Regency. Somehow I thought a Cosmo would be a good replacement for that and as it turns out, he loved it. Anyway, all the merriment and drinking aside, everything this evening was about networking and did I do lots of that. I had some great Legal Div discussions at the ballgame and will be a point person for one of my new UK acquaintances who wants to learn more about a new comers perspectives of SLA. The absolute highlight of the evening was my lovely chat with SLA CEO Janice Lachance! She graciously agreed to have my picture taken with her and we had a nice chat about my experiences as a first timer at the conference. She is very supportive and really seemed to enjoy my enthusiasm about the conference. I’ll post the pic later when I get a chance. I know have time to get about 4 hours of sleep. So, more later.
